The internet is one place to find information. It contains a vast amount of information that is quickly available. Some of it is valuable for research. Some is not.
How can we know if the information on a website is accurate? This website evaluation guide gives you some important questions to consider.
Try it out with these sites on genetic engineering:
What did you notice about each site? Which ones could be examples of trustworthy sites? Pay attention to how many advertisements and pop-ups appear on a site. Why are there so many ads on some sites? Do they seem like reliable research sites? What do you notice in the URL? Does it end in .gov or .edu? These are often more reliable than .com sites, but not always.
Sometimes, if you are collecting opinions, you will want to read biased examples as well.
